I would like to be able to add the plan of the collars and traces of the holes to a cross section when using an affine transformation, ie local grid

In Discover Create Local Grid Layout the Advanced Options needs to also have a facility to add the Line No. increment and suffix. Otherwise if the starting grid line is say 477000 and the grid lines are at 100m spacing the next line will be 477001 instead of what it should be ie 477100. With the suffix capability "N" could be added.

Discover -> Import and Export -> Transform Vector File

there's a 256(?) char limit when selecting multiple files for transformation. Can i suggest introducing a "all files in folder" option. This could be implemented across a large number of discover functions.

I want to be able to make a global map or section legend directly from the styles I have entered in the legend editor rather than from an individual map or section.  That way I can create one legend that covers everything.

I still find it very difficult to make the models I want using the solid modeller.  In most of the projects I work on I create sections and level plans and export tagged polygons and polylines to Discover 3D that I want to make 3D models out of.  What would make this much easier would be:
Having an auto snap function that would snap my section objects and level plan objects for the same feature to each other (some cross sections are oblique and cross other sections so they would need to be snapped).  A snap distance in metres for the operation could be entered.
Have an interactive tool in the solid Modeller to check and fix the integrity of objects being used in the object building - I get some very unexpected results sometimes which are possibly related to polyline directions being variable.
Have the ability to intersect 3D models between feature databases or alternatively to have a tree structure in an FDB where are objects are listed and can be turned on or off.

A video tutorial on the best way to build objects and check them and edit them using the cursor plane would be very useful.

MapInfo's legend allows users to select whether they want to create a legend of a layer using a unique field or unique object style. Discover's only works on browser info, which means that often a legend has to be created using a mixture of the 2 methods.

Discover's legend can use multiple fields on the legend (perfect for geological layers!) but then lists every single mineral deposit, exploration licence boundary or drillhole, rather than simply listing different styles of drillhole, deposit type etc.

Would be lovely not to have to use both methods!

Discover colours and patterns should be numbered the same way as they are in MapInfo, A – P and 1 – 16, e.g. G12, and A – H 1 to 24 for patterns. I figured out the colours and patterns by the numbers in MapInfo and then in the drill holes the setup has fewer columns so I could not pick out the correct colours, etc. easily. They should both look the same, using the MapInfo layout.

The legend creator is good, but needs a "back" button as a user may go through a lot of steps but one simple mistake means they have to start again from scratch. "back" on the "order objects" dialogue boxes to get the user back into the set-up would be lovely.

In Graph Map (which is great when it's behaving) I'd like the ability to quickly plot standard diagrams from literature (e.g. Winchester and Floyd 1977 Nb/Y vs Zr/Ti,  Spidergrams or TAS diagrams) with the standard fields appearing superimposed on the data.

Once we have this, a single-click 'classify points by field' button, could then push the classic diagram's rock names out to a column in the data. This would be another major time saver.

Currently we are using the freely available GCDkit to do geochemical classification, but this lacks the excellent map-linking, filtering and thematic functionalities of Graph Map.

The Add Text Labels utility was replaced with Label Creator in the last release of Discover. Now it appears that you cannot create labels from a query table and you also cannot create a label SQL Expression. I'm all in favor of improving functionality but not when it removes existing functionality. Please rectify this ASAP.

I am a heavy user of Enhanced Layer Control, but I hear that when the new MapInfo comes out, ELC will no longer be available.  This is causing some concern, as I and others in our office want to know how we will be able to accomplish the following functions without it:

    1.  Grouping layers.  This is a time-saving option that we use all the time to turn off many layers with the click of a single button.  I have not been able to figure out how to do this in Layer Control - perhaps if there were a toggle at the bottom of the LC window, so that the groups would instantly become obvious, and they could be turned on and off in a flash.

    2.  The "previous view" button at the bottom of the ELC window is priceless.  I use it all the time.  Will it be transferred to LC?

    3.  LC does not appear to have the same option as ELC to open or not to open branches for all windows.  In LC, I have to turn off the layers for each window individually.  This is tedious.

    4.  LC does not list legend or layout windows, giving no opportunity to retrieve hidden ones or to rename them.

Please let me know that these concerns are being addressed.

alpha and beta angles in DrillholesAvailable in Next Release

Please make it possible for the Drillholes menu option to have the ability to convert alpha and beta angles (the data that is measured from orientated drill core) to real world dip and dip direction.

I cannot understand why this is not available in the Discover > Drillholes option.  This is a considerable oversight.

Please make it possible to contour the stereoplots produced in GraphMap.

Also, please make it possible to get the stereoplot coordinates when you move the mouse over the stereoplot and not just the coordinates of the graph image (which are of no use whatsoever).  With the stereoplot as it is it is not possible to easily get dip and dip direction information from point clusters in the stereoplots, they are essentially 'dumb'.

I would like a few simple image processing tools to view and strech RGB images, split the channels and stretch separately - recombine channels in an inetractive way in different orders.  No complex image processing required.

Enable access to MapInfo files / windows while setting up a drillhole project.

Oftern when setting up a project, file structure needs changing, new tables need to be created, etc. User has to cancel out of project manager, often when project setup almost complete. It would save a lot of time and data re-entry by allowing access to tables behind the project manager, while leaving the project manager open and editable.

Please upgrade the 'Create Feature Database Query' to allow, for example, the 'any' operator to be used.  At the moment only very simple queries can be written in Discover 3D which kind of defeats the object of using a GIS.

Please make the look north, south, east, west, up, down buttons permanently visible in the toolbar in Discover 3D.  I use these buttons constantly and now, for some inexplicable reason, I find I have to press the button twice for it to have effect so there is more reason now that they should be permantly visible, i.e. one less button to press.  It's not as if the toolbars take up a lot of room in Discover 3D, there is lots of space for them.  I first started using Discover 3D with version 9 and the buttons were visible permantly in that version but for some reason that option was terminated.  Other 3D software have these buttons permantly visible, for good reason!

I found a bug - with the label creator working on cloned windows.  I couldn't seem to get labels to appear - and finally realized that they labels were on the original window and not the cloned view!  I often have to show detailed areas as a 'zoom' on a map and so have multiple cloned views and this will be very frustrating if this is the case for the using this tool.  Worked perfectly fine before this version.  Anyone else having issues with label creator!!

Ability to change the size of the size of coordinate text printed around the outside of a layout map when using “Place labels in mask polygon outside map frame”.

If you are lucky you can change it by 2 font sizes, but anymore it will shrink to some minuscule view and you probably have to make the layout again.  This just maps any map look very sloppy.  This doesn't happen in ArcGIS so why can't we have this ability in Discover?

Guys, you supported the MAC platform until Version 4 - please hurry up and release versions that will run on Intel MAC's post OSX 10.6.x - in our office we have a strong preference for the MAC OS.

There is a major move my many users to the MAC platform.  Don't miss the boat.

    J. Mac.
