MapInfo Manager

When harvesting Oracle Spatial data in MapInfo Manager v1.3, any records/tables which fail to be added are skipped and it does not give any indication of which tables were skipped or the reason why.

The only way around this at the moment is to manually compare between the shared folder and the library view in MiManager to determine which files have been missed.

We would like to raise this as a product feature enhancement request so that this functionality can be introduced in a later release as it would be very handy to know which files are missed and why without having to manually go through and compare the records one by one.

I currently have Street Pro Navigation AU data installed and it comes with a set of metadata information (.xml file). The ability to import those metadata (which comply with the Standard used by MIM) into MIM metadata template would be a good feature to have. At the moment in MIM v1.2, I have to create those metadata for each of the dataset and it is not ideal.

    Hi,

I work on different projets and I'd  like to have different directories for MapInfo.
I'd like to choose a directory when I open MapInfo.

Thus, I'd like to configurate the directory where the Universal translator look for tables and save tables.
It could be the same as the directory of my tables for the projet.

    Thank you,
    Florence

I am unable to browse the share within Mapinfo Manager to its subfolders and therefore cannot use the program at all.  I have full security permission to the folders but the + symbol does not appear to the left hand side within the program.  I have tried different versions of JAVA without success.  Technical support suggested  the following at the end of our discussions to the following helpdesk call.

[00932706] Unable to harvest records in MiM 1.2
"Sorry to hear this did not work for you. Since the CIFS file system has not been tested and thus is not supported there is not much more we can do to help you resolve this issue. What we would advise is raise this as a Feature Request for Product Management via the Ideas Community at http://pbinsight.force.com/pbideas to have it supported for future versions."

Your help would very much be appreciated as I am not sure what else I can try now to get this working, as moving the data to NTFS is not really a solution as we have invested heavily in this new network storage technology.  We have a Netapp FAS2020 device that hold our CIFS files.

    Kind Regards,
    Eiiron Edwards.

Would love a shortcut key that allows you to toggle on/off "Move Duplicate Nodes" when in Map Window.

Although the automatic updating of the extents is being applied within v11.5 of MI Pro, could it not also automatically update who did the modification based on a windows authentification username or lookup of email address for the windows user and then add that to the metadata as the last person to modify the layer? That way the MapInfo Manager administrators could then email that person and request information in regards to what changes they made and why. Perhaps even loading up an email to specified address for the administrators so the user can inform the administrators of the changes and why while it is fresh in their minds?

Its not specifically clear of what is required for each point of the metadata template creation. It would be useful to have an overview for each point (basically give an example of the type of information or detail of the fields purpose) -

Enable the user to clone an existing templete in MapInfo Manager - whcih contain prepopulated fields. This reduces the amount of time taken by the user having to re-enter the data.

Simple but so helpful, please provide a PDF pintable user guide for the system. Without dual screens it’s impossible to be able to follow the steps and read the user guide. Sorry I had to put this on…

Add proxy support for WMS and WFS in MapXtreme.  This is already available in MI Pro, so why not MapXtreme.  Currently if you have to go via a proxy using MapXtreme, its not possible to connect to either WMS or WFS services.

It would be helpful to have possibility to import GML format superior version 3. The actual version supports only the 2.1 version of this format.

Would it be possible to have a downloadable/printable User Guide for MapCAD for MapInfo please? I find it impossible to follow any instructions on the on-screen help system. We have lost the use of AutoCAD and FastCAD, and wondered whether MapCAD may be of use to us within MapInfo. Any other suggestions would be most welcome.

    Regards,

    Reg,

Add support for additional operating systems (eg linux variants - notable Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x) and for different application containers (eg Tomcat 6.x) in future releases of MapInfo Manger.

MapInfo Manager can only synchronise it's Library at the primary folder level.
As the Library expands in size synchronisation becomes a long time wasting process.

Can MapInfo manager be given the ability to synchronise at an individual folder (and its contents) if needed.  The ability to synchronise at any level within the Library would save a considerable amount of time when adding new data to the Library and Catalogue.

Although MapInfo Manager offers the ability to capture high level metadata against GI data, the fact that it doesnt capture the TAB or WOR name in the metadata fails to meet a key requirement. By capturing the TAB or WOR name in the creation point of the library and publishig the name in to the metadata file, it  would enable us to identify the actual record and provide additional data that is needed.

A very useful feature would be the ability to keep track of where each dataset is used, for example if you could interrogate all workspaces as they are harvested and track each dataset that is used in these workspaces. Then if you need to move, rename or modify the structure of an existing dataset you can simply look up that dataset in MapInfo Manager and see a list of all workspaces referencing that dataset, this would save a lot of time and potential problems that are associated with modifying location or structure of datasets.

MiM does not create the localized strings, and so it does not anticipate and handle these upon XML import.

Customers attempting to import records created outside of MiM that have localized elements, which MiM does not support get an error:

"Cannot invoke method size() on null object"

Generalized support for multiple metadata record languages in MiM (i.e., creation and editing of localized non-English entries) should be supported un future releases.

The install instructions arent clear for how to setup a data repository on a different server to the application. Can the repository be held on a data server not a web server? instructions to include this configuration.
